Keith Vaz has been confirmed as a candidate in the forthcoming UK election.
Vaz, who currently hosts a 60-minute Sunday morning programme on London’s Lyca Radio, is making a political comeback after retiring four years ago.
Vaz previously held the Leicester East seat for Labour for 32 years but resigned from Parliament following a scandal involving male sex workers. Now, he is standing for the One Leicester Party, founded in 2023 by former Leicester Labour councillor Rita Patel.
In a campaign leaflet circulating in Leicester, Vaz stated, “Many people have urged me to stand again. I have decided to do so and accept the nomination of Leicester’s newest party, One Leicester, to be their candidate for one more term.
