Former Asian Sound Radio owner, Shafat Ali confirmed to stand as Bury North candidate in elections
The previous owner of Asian Sound Radio, Shafat Ali has been confirmed to stand as a candidate in Bury North constituency in the UK Parliamentary general election.
Ali’s party is Workers Party of Britain, led by George Galloway, Andy Hudd, Peter Ford and Chris Williamson. The other contenders vying for the Bury North seat are Mark Alcock (Liberal Democrats), James Daly (Conservative and Unionist Party), Spencer Donnelly (Independent), James Frith (Labour), Anwarul Haq (Independent), Lynda Rosewell (Reform UK) and Owain Sutton (Green party).
Ali sold Asian Sound Radio to the Lyca Group in December 2023. In April 2024, the station was rebranded to Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester, extending the Lyca Radio Network based in London.
