Expectations on sequels fair high for Riteish Deshmukh

Some of his biggest successes have been achieved from doing franchise films, and with two more sequels in the pipeline, Riteish Deshmukh seems to be feeling the pressure even more.

Gearing up for ‘Housefull 4’ and ‘Total Dhamaal’, Times of India reports the actor explaining, “The previous installments of both these films have fared well and hence, expectations are already high. So, there is a lot of pressure.”

However he does feel that as well as his acting, much of a film’s success rides on the content and timing. “The genre of the film could make a difference to its box-office prospects. Comedies like ‘Total Dhamaal’ and ‘Housefull 4′ have a better chance to succeed, but at the end of the day, it’s about getting your content and release date right. If those parameters are in place, the film will work well,” the actor added.

Though he is an established Bollywood actor already, Deshmukh had ventured into new territory when he debut in a Marathi film ‘Lal Bhari’ (2014). With the film having done well in the Box Office, Deshmukh has now been signed for another film titled ‘Mauli’.

Originally announced in 2015, ‘Mauli’ ran into to production issues, hence didn’t go forward. However with Deshmukh now also on board with his own hand in producing, it seems the film will soon be ready to kick start. Talking about it, Deshmukh expressed, “Mauli’ is going on floors soon. Sometimes, what happens after a success like ‘Lai Bhaari’ is that one tries too hard to figure out what one wants to do next. You have already set a benchmark and you don’t want to slip. But then, it doesn’t always work out the way you planned. Fortunately, in Mauli’s case, we got the film back on track.”
